NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2026 - Ocean, an agentic email security platform, today announced that it was named a winner of the prestigious 2026-27 Fortune Cyber 60 in the Early Stage category. This list recognizes 60 of the most important venture-backed cybersecurity companies, presented by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Amazon Web Services (AWS) in partnership with Fortune.

More than 90% of successful cyberattacks start with a phishing email, according to CISA, and AI has changed what those emails look like. Attackers now learn the baselines, relationships, and tone of a business, so attacks look completely normal and slip past tools that were architecturally designed to hunt for patterns and anomalies. Ocean was built for that reality.

Ocean’s agentic platform investigates every email, including those from known and trusted senders. Proprietary AI models screen each message at machine speed, a swarm of purpose-built agents examines anything that warrants a closer look, and Ray, Ocean’s central intelligence engine, delivers the deepest analysis of communication intent, sender relationship history, and sending infrastructure. Every verdict comes with a human-readable report of what was found and why, so security teams get evidence they can trust instead of a score they have to go verify. Ocean deploys through API, read-only, with no MX change, and goes live in hours.

Customers include Kayak, Headspace, and Global Fortune 500 organizations across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and more. Ocean processes more than one billion emails every month and protects hundreds of thousands of employee mailboxes globally.

Now in its fourth year, the Cyber 60 honors companies across AI security, identity and access, data protection, cloud security, and security operations, with 20 companies in each of three categories (Early Stage, Early Growth, and Growth). Lightspeed evaluated more than 300 cybersecurity startups on annual recurring revenue, current- and prior-year growth, and business operations, and Fortune reviewed and validated the final list.

Shay Shwartz, Co-Founder and CEO of Ocean, said: “Being named to the Cyber 60 is a credit to the people building Ocean and to the customers who trusted us early. We're proud to help the world protect its communications from social engineering in today's hyper-realistic environment, where everything seems normal and trustworthy.”

David Gussarsky, Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, said: “Recent events show us that security needs to move at machine speed. Ocean is leading that shift in communications security, protecting some of the largest organizations with an agentic solution that responds to new attacks in seconds. We’re proud to see Ocean on this list.”

About Ocean:

Ocean is an agentic email security platform that stops AI-powered social engineering attacks other tools miss, including zero-day phishing. Attackers now use AI to learn how your business communicates, understand the baseline of its relationships and patterns, and then engineer attacks to blend in. Tools that hunt for anomalies are architecturally blind to what seems like normal business, and legacy solutions that wait for a patient zero fail against polymorphic attacks, since one victim reveals very little about the next. Ocean investigates every email like your best analyst, at scale, before employees ever see it, not after your SOC gets an alert. Proprietary AI frontier models screen each message at machine speed, purpose-built agents examine anything suspicious, and Ray, our central intelligence engine, delivers the deepest analysis of intent, context, and evidence. Ocean deploys via API in minutes with no MX changes, and a 60-day lookback quickly shows what’s been slipping through. Your team stays in control while SOC operations run automatically.
